HSPro Software or HS Pro 100

    Hi
I am new to this forum but have been using X10 for many years to control many things around the house. I have quite a large set-up with most of the automated things being controlled through a escort module in my DSC alarm panel.
I have now been looking at the next step and would like advice on which approach to take. I am leaning towards the software but the hardware does have its appeal.
If I go software can I connect direct to my XTB-IIR booster. My escort module does plug directly into this or does the PC need to be connected to a CM15 or similar. I already have a CM12U which i believe i can use.
from your experieces which would be the best approach to take.
If i go the software route I am thinking about something like the Acer Revo as the base PC to run this on.

Thanks in advance for your advice

HS Pro 100 is simply a PC using embedded XP for the OS and some hardware options that focus its use for a 24/7 HA platform.

HSPro software is the Homeseer software with all the HST-written plugins included.

You can run HSPro software on the PRO 100 Hardware. You can run HSPro software on any other PC. You can run basic HS software without the plugins on any other PC. You do not need to run HS software on the PRO 100 hardware, but that would not be a normal configuration.

Welcome to the journey - you have asked a great question. The most important thing when building something is the foundation. HomeSeer is a solid foundation. Take a look at the comparison chart

IMHO if you are going to spend the money on HS2 Pro then I'd get the Hometroller 3 with the Pro software. AND GET the USB restoral drive

          Hi

Thanks for your replies. I was think of going the software route because the hardware route I thought would be limiting but I am not sure which is why I asked the question.
I do like the thought of no moving parts on the Troller3. I am slightly concerned about the feasibility of using this in the UK as most US products do not work too ood on the UK power.
Does the Troller3 use the exact same Homeseer pro software as buying the software seperately

Once again thanks for you replies

            Same software.
Power is not a problem because it uses an external power brick so that is always replaceable.

              Thanks Bill

So you would recomend going with the Troller3 over software/PC combination.

I would. This hardware will pay for itself over time in power savings and the size is incredibly small. This device will fit almost anywhere.

The reliability of no moving parts.
The reliability and speed of HST's XP Embedded. The operating system is tuned to run optimally for HS2 and that PC.

So, on this comparison note - does anyone have opinions on whether to consider the Troller 3 over the Pro-100? Looking at the comparison chart I don't see anything compelling about spending the extra money....
