Anthem avm 30 rs232 and homeseer

I currently have home seer running on a hometroller and it can control my home theater equipment via irtrans. I was wondering if it is possible to control the anthem av receiver via the rs232 on the back using homeseer? The main advantage would be faster and two-way communication.
Any thoughts if this can even be done? If so what hardware and plugin would you use?

It can be done the question is will you need to start from scratch or use an existing plugin/script to do it. I've not seen mention of this hardware so your best bet may be to start with one of the serial based scripts.

Any ideas on which plugin or script would let me send generic RS232 commands? I could not find one.
