    Insteon to computer

    I have an insteon device that sends me a signal when a photo eye is tripped.
    I want to record the date and time of that signal in a log on my computer
    how do I do that?

    Set up an event that is triggered when the device status/value changes and run a script to write to a log file.

    Code:
    sub main(sVal)
    Dim fso,f1
    Const OpenFileForReading = 1
    Const OpenFileForWriting = 2
    Const OpenFileForAppending = 8

    	Path = "Info.log"
    	Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    	Set file = fso.OpenTextFile(path, 8,True)

    	file.WriteLine( "Data received " & now())
    	file.Close
    end sub

        You need an Insteon PLM, which bridges the PC with the hardware, along with the latest Insteon plugin available in the Insteon forum.

          I'm confused

          I'm sorry, I am a novice at this
          I bought the Insteon PLM and it ties into my computer now. The software I have is HouseLInc2 and I can see when the device is triggered.
          My problem is that the software will not let me generate a log for just the one device.
          You gave me a script for taking the signal and creating a log,, but where do I put that script, how does the script know which device I want to keep a log of, etc.
          Again, I am a novice and I will need lots of simple directions
          thanks
          Bob

            The software I gave you works with HomeSeer. I would recommend going to this softwares message board for help with this application.
