    Help on Event Trigger

    Help

In HS2 How can I write a script or trigger to open/close my garage door.

    F2 opens/closes the door.
F3 sensor if off door is open
    if on door is closed

    This should happen at 7:00PM

On my event screen it is showing
    Conditional
    Device sensor (f3) off and
    Time is at 7:00pm Everyday

But it trigger f2 no matter what state f3 is in.

    Sample would be helpful

    Thanks

    P.S.
running windows xp how do I get a screen shot.

So your saying that the event trigger even do F3 is on or off? What type of device is F3? A eletectric switch or virtual?

I've used PrintKey 2000 and been very satisfied.

As far as your event, keep in mind that normally when you press a button to open a garage door, the button goes on momentarily, then off. Therefore, you probably will need an event action that includes both and On and then an Off. Each time you cycle the state of F2 to On and Off, the door will open if it is closed or close if it is open. Use your other device to help you keep straight which direction it will move.

You should also be careful about an event that automatically closes a garage door. Several people have reported doing significant damage when something was in the way, and there's always the chance that someone could get hurt.

            Hector

I have a X10 Power Flash (psc01) Connected to a switch on the door.
            F3 is a virtual switch.

I am trying to create 2 events timed 1 to open, 1 to close.

F3 tells me if the door is currently open or closed.

I created the event but it open or closes the door no matter if F3 is on or off.

            I am doing something wrong.

            Thanks

            P.S. F2 is a Universal Module.

Have you confirmed that the state of F3 does reflect the state of the door? (I know it's a basic question, but I have had enough cases where I "know" a device is tracking an event - only it isn't. )

I've also attached a screen shot of one of my event triggers that has a condition attached that may be a useful reference. In this case, the condition is that it be night. A shot of your event would really help, too.

Click on the 'paper clip' and then follow the instructions in the pop-up window to upload the image.

It may be because you have too few posts. To minimize spam and robot posts, the board prevents new members from including links (and maybe attachments) until they've submitted some (undisclosed) number of posts.

Your parallel thread seems to have disappeared. That could be because it had the same title as this one and a moderator (or algorithm) deleted it thinking it was a duplicate. Did you see my response there?

One other thought occurred to me. Although your virtual device, F3, is a good way to test your idea, I would strongly advise that you install some sort of detector, such as a magnetic reed switch, to determine if the door is open or closed. For example, if your event to close the door simply changes the state of the virtual device, but the door encounters an obstruction, it will open again, but your virtual device will report that it is closed.

                          Thanks Uncle michael

I put a switch on the door and used a power flash to send a single to F3
to tell if the door is open or closed.

                          IT WORKS

I want to thank you for all your time and energy helping me.

                          Thanks again
