Infrared controller global cache itach or USB-Uirt?

I'm trying to determine what route to go...My current needs are to just control my whole house audio system but like flexibility for future...any pros over one or the other?

Tried USB-UIRT and had trouble learning commands. Switched to IrTrans and love it.

I've used both USB-UIRTand Global Cache. The first one works OK and is fairly cheap. but the Global Cache is the best IMHO.
HSPro 3.0.0.458, Z-NET with Z-wave plugin 3.0.1.190, RFXCOM + 2x RFXtrx433E, HSTouch, Squeezebox plugin, iTach IP/WF2IR & GC-100-6 with UltraGCIR, BLDenon, NetcamStudio, Jon00s Webpage builder, Harmony Hub plugin, SCSIP (with FreePBX), Arduino plugin, IFTTT, Pushalot plugin, Device History plugin.
Running on Windows 10 (64) virtualized
on ESXi (Fujitsu Primergy TX150 S8).
      WinSeer (for Win10) - TextSeer - FitbitSeer - HSPI_MoskusSample

ok the home audio distribution module I need to control is in the same room as my home seer computer. So the global cache iTach Ip2IR would be the best way to go? What makes it better than the USB-UIRT? It has built in webserver and can talk over TCP?

You can use both at the same time.

I use both at the same time. Tenholde is right USB - UIRT is a little harder to learn the codes. If you use the "IRLEARN" Utility it get a little easier.

I use UIRT to control my window air conditioner in my "man cave" and anything else in the room (UIRT has great blaster).

I use ultraGCIR Plugin and 3 GC100-06's through out the house to control the Audio/Video and a GC100-12 to sense and control two garage doors.

I have used the GC100 since they were first available. When something works for me I stick with it. I have not used any of the newer hardware but I hear they work great. My point was that you could use both (GC and UIRT) at the same time.

I would say don't do both unless you absolutely have to, it cuts down on the cost and work (you cannot use the same IR-codes for GC and USB-UIRT, you need to learn them all over again).

Choose one, and if you want flexibility get the Global Cache stuff.

Thanks for eveyone's input....I ended up buying the iTach and have all my codes but having issues with the plugin? I am using the global cache plugin but it keeps saying the installation is pending a homeseer restart? I restarted homeseer and the computer but the installation doesnt complete? any ideas?

That's strange. I'd file a bugreport on that.

However, if you haven't decided on a plugin yet I would HIGHLY recommend the UltraGCIR plugin. In my opinion it's much easier to use than the HomeSeer one.

thanks, i finally got it going and the interface looks like it is working. Do you guys design your own screen then to create an interface? I just set up events to test it but i was thinking a nice GUI. Does everyone use the Global Cache plugin? what is the difference between the two?

I use HSTouch for my end-user screens.

The UltraGCIR plugin actually works, which usually is a big pluss...
