    Changing IP addresses w/ Quatech

I have three Quatech QSE-100Ds, two sitting in my rack and the third in my shop up in my barn. One of the QSE-100Ds in the rack has a bad port, and I am only using one of the ports on the QSE-100D in the barn. I would like to swap them but that would create major havoc with my system. If I could physically move them and simply trade their IP addresses, would that work, rather than redoing everything?

I want to do the most painless thing as I am lazy and I am trying to move HomeSeer to a new computer, so I don't need the added distraction.

    Any advice?

    Thanks
    Don

I have four of these. I don't actually use any at the moment, although I do have one ready to go in the garage. It's on my list.
I don't remember how the Serial ports are referenced at the computer. If it's by IP address then you should be good. If it's by the MAC address of the Quatech, then it ought to be a simple matter of changing that reference at the computer.
Real courage is not securing your Wi-Fi network.

I'll give it a try. What could possibly go wrong? :-)

I've never done the experiment, but I believe it's by IP address.

You can assign a static address using the Quatech's web server. (I assume you need to be careful not to use one that's already taken. ) Are you using RAW IP or virtual com ports? If you have virtual com ports, then you'll need to pay attention to the assignments. They may be disrupted, but you can put them back to what they were - if you have good notes.
