    Kwickset Lock Zwave Add Problem

I am using a Ztroller (Newly purchased) and a Kwickset Deadbolt Zwave Lock.

I use the Add function on the ZTroller. Then I connect the Ztroller to the HomeTroller and click "Import Devices" in the Interface Dialog for the Zwave interface.

The log shows the following errors:

    2/11/2013 9:01:40 PM Z-Wave **********
    2/11/2013 9:01:40 PM Z-Wave ********** Adding Z-Wave Device with Node ID of 3 Type GENERIC_TYPE_ENTRY_CONTROL=40H **********

    2/11/2013 9:01:51 PM Z-Wave Device: Z-Wave Z-Wave Interface (Node 3) supports class(es): COMMAND_CLASS_MANUFACTURER_SPECIFIC, COMMAND_CLASS_VERSION, COMMAND_CLASS_SECURITY

After this, only a generic "on/off" device is added to the devices page. Type Z Wave Lock. But the lock cannot be controlled from HS software. Attempts to communicate with lock using rescan result in the following errors:

2/11/2013 9:08:52 PM Z-Wave ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------2/11/2013 9:08:52 PM Z-Wave ********** Reloading Z-Wave Device with Node ID of 3 **********2/11/2013 9:08:52 PM Z-Wave Getting SECURITY class information for Z-Wave Z-Wave Interface (3)2/11/2013 9:09:03 PM Z-Wave Failed (A) to get SECURE command classes from node 3. Device may not be added properly to HomeSeer.2/11/2013 9:09:03 PM Z-Wave Warning: Could not get SECURE command classes for node 3, Z-Wave Z-Wave Interface . Cannot continue.2/11/2013 9:09:03 PM Z-Wave ========== Done with Z-Wave Device with Node ID of 3 ==========

Can anyone tell me what boneheaded mistake I've made?
I have tried removing and readding the lock, but no changes.

    Thanks.

To add any lock to HomeSeer you need to leave your controller connected to your HomeSeer computer and use the add node function in the Z-Wave management link to add your lock. Then move the lock to it's final location and optimize your network.

I agree with Rupp. To add all my locks, they had to be within 10' direct line of site to the stick.

In fact, I am currently testing moving the stick closer to the front door. I used to have GREAT communications with the front door, but then put a Freezer in the way. Had spotty communications since. Instead of purchasing a few "repeaters" to bounce the signal over, I happened to have a USB extender cable. {knock on wood} so far has been working well. By relocating the stick to within 10' of the front door, I have not missed a unlock yet. I also find I can still hit all the units that are in the basement. Normal units seem to have a MUCH greater transmit range than the locks themselves - esp. the Schlage. My Kwickset on the front door did not seem to have the same range issues.

Tasker, to a person who does Homeautomation...is like walking up to a Crack Treatment facility with a truck full of 3lb bags of crack. Then for each person that walks in and out smack them in the face with an open bag.
