    Can anyone tell me about l1033.ini?

    I Googled every way that I know how trying to find out what each line in the l1033.ini file means. I am running Homeseer on a relatively powerful machine and am thinking that it may help with speech recognition if I could manipulate the file to use more system resources for recognition. If you know what any of the lines are, it would be helpful in painting the big picture. Is there any other way to accomplish this? Thanks, Koviak

    This file is used for speech recognition (SR) of the en-US language.
    Other languages uses a different filename, that's one piece.

    Looking at the content i would guess that you use Win7 as OS

    The line that maybe one of your intrest is this one CFGConfidenceRejectionThreshold 93

    It can be changed to raise or lower the confidence level of the speech engine. On WinXP this was something you could adjust in the GUI but on Win7 this option is removed. Adjusting this level should be done by the software that is using the speech engine.

    For some of the other settings i have a feint idea where they are used for and some others i am clueless.

      Thank you AshaiRey. That is the only setting I truly understand. I know one of the limitations of voice recognition is computational power. I am trying to find the Rosetta stone to interpret these variables. Does anybody have any ideas about how to figure this out? Right now, I am just changing things at random and watching my processor and ram for fluctuations. - Koviak

        Understanding how the grammar file works and tuning it will give you a far better performance boost.

        Any idea what a sentence like this will do to your system?

        <play | start> my [very own] <radio|playlist> [now]

        instead of
        <play my playlist | start my radio>

        <> = one off
        [] = optional

        You will be amazed how many extra sentences you got that are useless

              Hi Randy

              Is it true if you alter the number on this line your accept level will improve?

                I can't answer that, I don't use VR. You might ask Ashai_Rey. I am thinking about it at some point, but it may be through IFTTT and an Echo or the Kinect plug-in. I have been playing with the Echo and it is very good at VR. The problem I see is in the lag imposed by IFTTT, so VR would be of limited use. With the microphone array in the Kinect, it is also very good, so that is the direction I lean.

                VR bears absolutely no interest from my SO, making it doubtful we will be using it soon. Like everything else, if I can make it PERFECT she might change her mind. But what are the odds of that

                    Because it is a system file, you are not allowed to edit it. To edit it or copy an edited file into that directory would entail modifying system security settings, something I would not recommend doing. A file like that is usually "done by the software that is using the speech engine" as AshaiRey said.

                      To edit this file you have to make sure that the readonly attribute is not set. If you still aren't allowed to write back the file then 'take ownership' of the file first. That wil do it. (Properties\security tab\advanced\owner tab)
