    Somfy motor for blinds

Does anybody use these or something similar. http://www.automatedshadestore.com/s...ds-pid120.html Would you mind sharing your set up. What is required to run this with HomeSeer. I did a search and there is a little bit of discussions but not a lot of information. Also most of the post a pretty old and for some reason most from the UK. Before I do like I normally do and rush out and buy something I want to make sure I buy something that works. Any information appreciated.

Somfy RTS motors and can be controlled by the RFXtrx433E http://www.rfxcom.com/store/Transceivers/14103 and the HS3 RFXCOM plug-in http://store.homeseer.com/store/RFXC...P1651C288.aspx.

I asked this same question awhile back here : http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=169554

I haven't been able to find anything else that looks as nice as that tilt motor that doesn't require fabricating something from a servo motor, etc.

I also like the idea of using the RFXtrx433E to control the motor instead of having to get the URTSI-II interface, (added benefit of other sensors talking to the RFXcom) but I haven't been able to find a good source for the version "E" in the USA.

If you find something else i'd be interested in hearing what you end up doing. This is something I want to add to my system soon as well.

So are you saying the one in the link above will not work in North America? What is the difference with the "E" version

The RFXtrx433E has additional hardware to be able to transmit Somfy RTS commands.
The frequency used in the US is the same as in Europe.

In this link there is a link to a Canadian vendor http://rollertrol.com/store/en/73-rf...sceiver-dongle but there is no model number. How do I know it's the E model. It does say it's for blind motors so I assume it is. Also how many motors can I control with this and what is the range. With 1 RFXtrx433E in the house will it reach all my blinds?

The version sold by Rollertrol is the RFXtrx433 without Somfy support.

The current firmware supports up to 30 RTS motors. The next firmware version will support up to 40.

The range depends also on the building material used.
The RFXtrx433E will have at least the same range as the Somfy remote.

So I guess I'm out of luck if I can't even buy it in north America. I did a quick Google search and apparently there are interfaces that will connect Somfy true Z-wave but not sure if it would work with HomeSeer and it's around $400.00

Yeah, I think there are a lot of issues with the ZRTSI. And it's expensive.

I have been keeping an eye open for the new RFXtrxE but have yet to see one. It might not hurt to give rollertrol a call though. They seem to be really helpful.

Buy it directly from rfxcom.com. That's what I did. Pricing was basically the same and it was delivered within two weeks.

                    Cheers

Wasn't sure they shipped to Canada. I just sent them an email. Do you know what shipping was to Canada. And are you happy with the performance.

I believe the total was about 100 euro with shipping included. Given the exchange rate, right now, it shouldn't be much more than C$150. With shipping included, I think the one from Rollertrol is around C$190. I've only used it to control some RGB LEDs and it's been working fine.

                          Cheers

                            Somfy RTS Tilt Control Question

Does anyone know if rfxcom can support the 'My' Button for a Somfy Tilt motor? I installed 8 Somfy motors on my 2 inch wod blinds and need to get them to 50% open or support the 'My' Button which opens them to 50%.

If so, do I need anything besides a Rfxcom device, Plugin and my Somfy Rts Remote?

The MY/STOP button is supported by the RFXtrx433E and the RFXCOM HS3 plug-in.
The Somfy remote is necessary to add the RFXCOM "remote" in the motor.
