    Is there a command to insert a pause on speak text?

    I tried commas, which work in some TTS applications, but not here apparently. My main concern is when speaking text, time of day, etc to my HomeSeer tabletop tablets, it always clips off the first part of the speech. I'd like to insert a pause before the phrase to be spoken to see if that remedies the situation.

    Thanks!

    I have always used periods. I had the same problem, as I announce the time and other criteria such as garage door status at sundown. I Had to just use a period. It says, the time is now. then the actual time.
    A computer's attention span is as long
    as it's powercord.

      Use the SAPI 5 silence tag:

      <silence mSec='700' />

      This will pause the speech for 700mS

      i.e.

      Hello <silence mSec='700' /> World

        Excellent thanks for the replies! Periods work in the sentence but will not delay the start of the speech. I'll try the other method. Didn't know that existed!

          Lots you can do with speech tags:

          http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...=vs.85%29.aspx

          Just make sure you replace " with ' with the examples shown when using in Homeseer.

            That worked perfectly! No more clipped text. Thank you!

            Will review the other goodies as well. I was just going to ask about other tricks

                Does SAPI5 need to be enabled? When I put <silence mSec='700'/> homeseer says speaks the text rather than executing the markup.
