I have been using foscam for outside with some of results, I would like to purchase another outdoor camera with PoE capabilities. It needs to interface well with sighthound software. Any camera that you would suggest, and in regard of PoE, currently I don't have any switch capable of it, would an adapter work to supply power?

There are plenty of HD IP POE cameras out there in internetlandia. The standards for the OS's on the cameras are finally starting to get better. That said though they are still different.
Personally my cams do JPG stills, RTSP, MJPEG and SIP now at around a 5MP range. (multiple streams at different resolution). The cameras can store stills / video on a USB SD card, FTP stills, et al and still connect to a CCTV server / NVR.
The camera needs the horsepower to do this (CPU, Memorywise). There is also an RTC / battery now in the newest cams.
would an adapter work to supply power- Pete

Best to check out the CCTV forum where many moderators / forum users are rating the new HD IP cams based on price and the best bang for the buck stuff. It is changing almost every day now. You do get much more for $150 than you got just 1-2 years ago.
There are a few of the CCTV forums and just googling found this one this morning.
Note that Homeseer 3 is not a CCTV NVR application. It never was.
There are HS3 plugins for camera stills or collection of still images.
HSTouch is changing. Old methodology of streaming CCTV was just a jpg capture in a rapid sucession.
I have historically played with a VLC window inside but running outside of Homeseer Touch.
On the CCTV NVR side and Wintel there is a HS3 plugin that works for many folks called Blue Iris.
I utilize Zoneminder still and recently purchased a Grandstream NVR (still in the box though).
Personally here now have settled on the Grandstream IP cameras (well and IP camera OS).
All my DIY Grandstream OS cams have built in SIP which is a nice thing to have.
My Leviton Omnitouch IP screens also all have built in SIP for video doorbells.
The propietary based NVRs are just that and mostly the companies do not publish APIs for their propietary software.
That said the newest IP HD cameras are little computers that can do all sorts of stuff independently. IE: newest Grandstream OS can do time lapse photography and save it locally or FTP stills to a server of your choice (IE: Homeseer).- Pete

You might want to check out http://www.cam-it.org. Although it concentrates on Blue Iris software, there are also lots of camera reviews, opinions, and first-hand experience stories.Fred
