Single Pole Double Throw Switch for Awning Control

    Hello all,

I have an older Sunsetter awning on the back porch that I'd like to control with HomeSeer. The awning currently uses a single pole, double throw switch with no return spring. I bought an Enerwave dual load z-wave module, thinking that I'd be able to build enough logic into Homeseer that I could keep both loads from being active at the same time. Unfortunately, the Enerwave module sometimes doesn't report it's status when something changes (it will take up to 5 minutes to report back to HomeSeer). Obviously, having both loads active is a Bad Thing(TM).

Is there a z-wave switch out there that will control two loads, allow me to use the existing switch, and prevent both loads from being active at the same time? I ran across the Fibaro FGS221, which looks promising, but I'm not sure it prevents both loads from being active. It has this setting:

Parameter no. 1 - Activate / deactivate functions ALL ON / ALL OFF. default value 255
    Available configuration parameters:
255 - ALL ON active, ALL OFF active.
0 - ALL ON is not active ALL OFF is not active 1 - ALL ON is not active ALL OFF active
2 - ALL ON active ALL OFF is not active

Does anyone know if that prevents both loads from being active at once in any situation? For example: someone commands the awning out via the physical switch, which doesn't automatically return, then a z-wave command is sent to pull the awning in...

I don't think it will work. What amperage do you need?

Those settings control how the module responds (or not ) to ZWave All On/All Off commands.

The Fibaro module has "Instant Status" meaning it will report back to HS3 when a button is pressed locally. Based on this you should be able to use HS3 events to switch off/on channels if two channels were on at the same time.

Be aware I don't believe the FGS221 local inputs work correctly with HS, there was some different version with different firmware released but HS caters for old firmware and not new firmware. I have it on my central heating system and it works fine for HS control but appears to do nothing on the status inputs. I don't know if I would rely on it myself or use some other method like use one output on a SPDT relay (for directional control) and then the other output to actually turn the power on/off through this relay, I think that way you could never be in the position of having both directions on at the same time.

I know you said you were looking for a z-wave solution, but a MySensors solutuion would easily solve the problem. Not to mention a TON more.

Here are a couple of mine. (not pretty but they work)
