Traffic and Train / Tube Status

Is anyone monitoring traffic and / or public transport feeds through HomeSeer?

I've been looking at the options - webscraper, RSS etc but interested in what people find most effective at providing relevant information and any filtering they put in place to cut out irrelevant information?

My main interest is Train and Tube updates for specific routes and lines respectively. Twitter seemed like an option but there ends up being lots of irrelevant information (eg: retweets about lost property)

I signed up for SMS alerts and get them sent to my SMS Gateway plugin. The plugin looks for the relevant text in the message, then a vb script parses the SMS, extracts the required info, writes that to a virtual device string.

HSTouch then displays the virtual device string on a Tablet with a 'Train Message' speech when a new msg arrives. I also clear the message with an event 2 hours after it has been received. If you read the existing virtual device first and add it to the new msg, you can have multiple messages on screen.

The SMS Gateway details are here http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=162542

This looks like it has most of the info that you are looking for. Looks like you need to register an app ID and obtain a key and then you can squirt a URL request to obtain the specified data.

Highways Agency also have some RSS feeds (http://www.highways.gov.uk/news/conn...ion-rss-feeds/) but obviously only for the Motorway network and other roads they have ownership of. Feeds along this line http://m.highways.gov.uk/feeds/rss/U...20Midlands.xml but some of their stuff like the cameras IIRC was a fee based thing.

National Rail look to have a couple of options - http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/46391.aspx

I think quite a few services want payment for traffic data, stuff like INRIX/RAC - I used to work in a control room for the larger of the three emergency services and we had a link from our CAD system to Telent who are a large provider of data - http://telent.com/traffic/products/rtpi/#.VcDVgPlVhBc but I would imagine those sorts of people are not in the market of releasing stuff for free.

The TFL API looks very nice, pity of no use to me!
