You could also install Dan's Guardian. It is available for PFSense.

I also utilize DNS forwarder with PFSense.

I'd be careful running Snort if this is your edge device. The guys writing the plugins are security pros using nice safe network tap access on VMs. Protecting the monitoring machine from the evils it is searching for isn't a necessity. The only way I run Snort is on a DIY tap I made back when my hands were steadier.

              Check out http://Emby.Media

It has native support for HD Home Run. You can get an app on Samsung App or Roku (a little slow) or a FireStick/Android TV (faster apps)...and leverage one interface for saved moves/tv+ live tv (non cable card) + DVR.

                  Very nice drawing Jeff.

Here installed Emby on the VDO (MythTV like alternative) box. It works fine.

I never did re-install Plex on my MythTV box as recalling it mangled the build and messed with my MythTV stuff. Note this is on Linux and not windows.

Just noticed that Windows 10 and one MS update now prevents the installation of MS media center on Windows 10.

It doesn't and it is not offered anymore.

The installation is a bit of a hack and it did work (but here didn't leave it running)

It is running one EXE file to install MS center until MS updated W10 to prevent the installation.

so I did install emby... was bored at work working late where there was some downtime.. so installed it and searched reports for movies, pics, music... and got it all setup... yeah it is nice... but 6 of one or 1/2 dozen of another.
they are both bout the same.

I personally like Plex better... but there are some things of Emby I do like.. so may have to run BOTH at home to decide..

Emby - built in for hdhomerun - since dont have that at work need to see how well does it work and that was one of my biggest gripes with plex. I am running plex for movie organization and was doing live tv but a pita.. so now nextpvr for live tv instead...

so I updated my setup. My master bedroom now has an intel nuc!!! running on wifi. seems to be good but some tweaking is needed.

also anyone know of a good/cheap bluetooth media center remote?? my current setup works but it is IR

side note last night after I had it on and walked away. i come back and the wife is like.. No it doesnt work... I asked how she knows and she said... see channel 3 doesnt work... channel 6 doesnt work..

I laughed and said yes you are correct they do not work. it is 803 and 806 for high def....

then showed her the guide and she was like... ouch my eyes.. small writing hurts my eyes.. but I think she is saying that as I have an issue where low def hurts my eyes.. so who knows...

                              but anyway...
                              diagram updated below... but..

Someone on Reddit posted that they were happy with the PS2 Blue Mote.

Looks to me like the modern version of the MS Media remote.

I have a couple of these and she will not use them. The one on the right is smaller and made for laptops.

Here wife likes the larger older style (MS Media center remote) remote. Similar to liking her flip phone (with internet access) that she rarely turns on.
