aeon labs panic button wont turn off

added the aeon labs panic button the other gay, i see the button but once pressed and it goes on , there seems NO way short of removing it, clearing it and re adding it, to turn it off. the device has no on/off control and it dosnt even show up in the event device list, even trying the capti control from a script wont turn it off.
    any ideas?

First, don't panic! LOL (sorry, I could not resist).

I read some information online and it seems that this is not an on/off device and it only sends one specific command to either directly control a device or group such as a siren, door lock or blind. I would expect from the information that it is just a momentary on and not to keep transmitting the on signal so the unit may be defective. I recommend having it control one z-wave device that is on/off direct and then see if you can turn that one device off in Homeseer after it has been activated to on with the panic button. Then repeat to see if the panic button only works once or if it will activate the device again. I have an idea if you are able to control one device direct to turn on and then can turn that device off in Homeseer and repeat (not turn the button off).

      Procedure for the test:

      1. Find a z-wave lamp or appliance module that has an on/off physical button for the device. Add the module to your Homeseer if not already.

      2. Clear the panic button programming completely. Using the provided Button pin, press and hold both the Learn and Include/Remove buttons for 10 seconds. If successful, the green and red LED on the front of your Panic Button will blink in an alternate pattern followed by the green LED illuminating for 2 seconds. If unsuccessful, the red LED will illuminate for 2 seconds. If this occurs, repeat the process again.

      3. Link the panic button to the lamp/appliance module direct. If you have it linked to Homeseer it might be good to remove now. Make sure that the module button is off if it is not a toggle.

      1. Press, hold and do not release for several steps your Panic Button’s Main Action Button. Your Panic Button’s green LED will pulse quickly when it’s ready to talk with other Z-Wave devices.
      2. Press the Z-Wave network button on the device that you wish to add. If you’re unsure of how to do this, refer to its user manual.
      3. Change the Z-Wave device’s status to match the desired outcome of your emergency scene. For instance, turn your Z-Wave device from off to on if that’s what you want your Panic Button to do. Use the physical button on the module, not Homeseer.
      4. Release Main Action Button the you held down in step 1.
      5. Test to see if panic button can turn on the associated device and then you can turn off in Homeseer and repeat test. What happens?

Note: The directions also have a process to add the panic button to your z-wave network, you might need to complete that before doing the 5 steps above to associate directly to the module. It's kind of confusing but I have had something similar before.

You can use an existing device but from what I understand it is not designed to interface directly with Homeseer but with a z-wave device(s) such as a siren, lamp module, etc that will in turn report to Homeseer. It's like a wireless hand held z-wave remote with only a button for "on".

Scenario: The panic button communicates direct with z-wave device(s) such as siren to turn it on. The siren is reporting to Homeseer that it is on and then you can trigger other events form the siren (or another device) state in Homeseer. When siren is active unlock doors, turn on all lights, etc in Homeseer.

no, the beta of the zwave interface was designed for this purpose.

ok in re reviewing the video, the panic button cant be reset, BUT if does send an on command each time its pressed, so making an event that runs each time it sees an on command from the button

I notice the panic button has 2 "alerts" one when you breifly press it and one when you hold it down for about 3 seconds.

any idea how to trigger on the hold down from this device?
