Bypass energy reporting on Aeon labs smart devices

I've been looking for a full-featured appliance module. I have a couple of Cooper Aspire RF modules, and I like everything about them except that they're 2-prong only (what were they thinking?).

I'm not a big fan of Leviton because of their oddball way of sending (or not sending) instant updates.

I have 7 or 8 old Intermatic HA02s, but they don't do scenes (but still work with my aspire scene controllers), updates, and use old zwave tech (don't like to route through them), etc. I only have one of the bunch in use, and it will be removed from the network after the holidays (on some Christmas lights).

So, the Aeon Labs Gen 5 Smarth Switch 6 looks good to me, however, since I only want to monitor power at my breaker box using my Aeon Home Energy Meter, I don't other energy reporting mucking things up.

Is it possible to bypass the reporting all together. I know I can exclude them from my graphs by unchecking them, and I assume I can configure them to never report in the settings by putting a "0" in each group's reporting interval in the devices' zwave configs, but will that do it? Do they make versions of the these modules without the energy reporting feature like they do with the micro controllers (I have several of these hard wired into lamps and really like them).

I really like Aeon labs offerings, especially since they have OTA firmware update capability. I suppose I can send them a message, they were very helpful when I was figuring out how to install micro controllers in my lamps for full local and remote control.

I have one and they are pretty nice. Unfortunately, HS3 logs *every* energy reporting device to the energy db with no way to turn it off except at the global level - it's an all-or-none type logging. I sure wish they would allow us to tick a checkbox to turn off logging to the db...

Can't you just uncheck it from the Zwave config page from the device so that it doesn't report any of the power settings. I have many of the previous version and have them selected based on use of how often I want them to report. In my case I haven't turned any of them off, but it does appear that if I unchecked them it wouldn't report at all. On my version I have the option to turn on/off Meter(kWh), Meter(W) and Sensor(W). Or tell them to report in more or less often.

I can test it on one of them if needed.

In my case, I use mine to monitor our washing machine if it is on/off. I use the watts to decide if it is running or not, so I cant disable it without affecting my events.

Agreed I use most of mine for different events as well. From my reading I think he wants to turn off the ability completely which I think he can do. Now if he is wanting it to still show up on the devices page and just not log to the database I think you are correct that currently that can't be done and that would require a change to how HS3 handles the data from the device.

Yes, I want it to work as a regular old appliance module and completely ignore all energy monitoring from the device.

In the meantime I have my one 3-prong device that needs an appliance module (a woodworking air cleaner) connected to an Aspire module using one of those 2-to-3 prong adapters with a screw terminal manually grounded to the metal conduit connected to the outlet.

I'm guessing that there are some ways to trick the unit into doing this, if there isn't a parameter to completely turn it off.

For example, you can tell it not to report watts/etc. unless the change in watts is huge. And you can change the reporting frequency. Not exactly what you're going for, but will reduce the amount of things in your log.
