Error when event is supposed to fire.

Hi there. Please help out if you're familiar with this issue.
New to Homeseer, coming from X10 ActiveHome Pro because their software's now history.
Have the Homeseer Hometroller Zee S2 and CM15A set up to perform 2 events - turn on and turn off outdoor lights.
They both failed. The log says the following occurred at the time of the events were to occur:

CM15A Error executing action: Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

What does this mean? What is the remedy?

    Thank you,

    Stan

Just to follow up on my replay in the General forum, one place where it is easy to get into trouble is when you create an X10 device in HS3. Just in case this is part of the problem, try this:

It is crucial that the very first time you see the device tabs, in addition to giving your device a name and location, open the X10 tab and select the house and unit code for the device and the device type. THESE CANNOT BE EDITED. If you want to change anything on this tab, you will need to delete the device and start over. Even though it looks like you can input the X10 address on the main Configuration tab, don't. It has to be entered on the X10 tab.

Once you press Done on any tab, your X10 device properties are pretty much locked in. After you create an X10 device, select it again and confirm that the X10 tab is correct. It should look something like the image below. If not, delete the device and try again.

Can you please elaborate on how you are attempting to control these devices? Are you using "X10: Send X10 command" or "Control a Device" in an event?

Can you control these devices from the Device Management page without errors?
      Best regards,

        Thanks Mark.
I highly appreciate (as well as the other guys I'm sure) you taking the time to sort these matters out.
Concerned if you don't have a CM15A to test with.

The device can be controlled reliably in the device list.
Here's a few screenshots. Please let me know what other info you may need.

As a workaround, have you tried using the "Control a Device" action in the event and then picking the appropriate device from the list? Given you can control it from the Device Management page that way, it should work that way through an event.

          Cheers

            Thanks Al,

            Appreciate the trick.

Set up the event so that the drop-down menu was used to select "Control a device" then "CM15A Send a Command" then filling out house/unit code.

            Wished it worked!

It appears the software doesn't think this is any different than a conventional trigger command.

            Unfortunately still get:

            CM15A
Error executing action: Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

What what what does this error code mean???

Interesting read upon Googling the error code.

It's not Homeseer but it's the same error code.

Perhaps this is the clue that will fix this bug?

Hi Stan, no need to use the CM15a send a command in this case. Just something like this:

Size:	32.7 KB
ID:	1182621

Maybe post a screen shot of your event too.

                Cheers

It's a common visual basic error typically caused by an empty string that the code is trying to convert to an integer.

                    Thanks Al.

Cannot believe it but set it up exactly like you showed - and it worked!

Ironically, the log doesn't agree completely because it still kicks out the error code.

(Of course) now there's a new problem.

When performing "Add new device" the CM15A tab is there - but then disappears once hitting "Done" or clicking out of the page.
Whereupon the device page shows this and is useless without the tab.

Glad you are making progress. Make sure to fill the CM15 tab out before you click done when first creating a device. That's what signals HS that the device is owned by the CM15 plugin. You'll have to recreate any devices where you did not do that.

                      Cheers

                        Thanks Al.

Yes I've learned about this problem with the tabs.

At this point Homeseer is not a professional, polished product.
                        It's a beta mishmash.
People who've purchased it are making a hobby out of trying to make it work.

Hit "Add new device" and the CM15A tab is there - but then disappears once hitting "Done" or clicking out of the page.

Delete it and start all over again. Situation repeats.

Log out. Log back in again. Situation repeats.

Reboot HomeTroller Zee S2. Situation repeats..

Disable CM15A plugin. Re-enable CM15A plugin. Situation repeats.

                        What have I left out????

                        Oh yes!

Pull all your hair out. Situation repeats.
