Everything is on the kitchen table right now, and I am experimenting with my Zee S2 and HS3 to get my arms around operation and especially event creation. I am coming up the curve pretty quick but have some questions that I hope that you can help with.
Thanks for looking. Thanks especially for replies
1) Is it possible to connect directly to my ZS2 without going through the HS web based interface to program my system? Does my ZS2 serve up HS3 pages or does the Homeseer server back at the mother ship do this?
2) I wish to turn off auto-optimization once I get everything installed and it has been running for a couple of nights. Is this the Z-Health checkbox? What else does Z-Health do?
3) I bought a Cooper light switch from HS, part number RF9540-NAW. The network integrity of this node is very poor, I find it has to be very, very, close to the hub in order to report properly. Can anyone recommend lighting switches, or perhaps z-wave AC outlets that are more robust in terms of extending my Z-wave network? I need some distributed parents that are rock solid. (would these be Z-Wave "plus" devices?)
I'm especially hoping to find network-strong switches that also work well with dimming low-load LED lights.
4) In the light switch "options" for HS3, I see an option that is "Dimming Duration". This is not the dim ramp. What is this? Does this automatically turn the light down after a period of time? It seems to have a range of 0 to 2 hours or so, and mine defaults to 3 hours, which I think probably means it never dims. I'll experiment this morning, but I am being a bit lazy here
5) Why do I want to keep my polling intervals at fairly long periods? To keep the network from being over burdened with traffic?
All in all I am pretty happy with this system, although I realize that I am still in the honeymoon period. I'm finding that the event scheduling and logical operations have some inherent limitations, in that the sequence of logical conditions in HS3 have to be crafted in order to get access to all the operations.
Thanks!
