    Welcome to HomeSeer,

What I found with HomeSeer which tend to be overlooked is the abundance of so many plugins :http://www.homeseer.com/homeseer-plug-ins.html (though the cost of your project adds up) which tend to solve the major issues people might have with "LOGIC" as you put it.
Intall the plugins and you have instant extra options (LOGIC) inside the HomeSeer event engine. If you think they are an oeverkill then in your case you have imput and output (TEMP, WINDOW and DOOR sensors. Then you have the RELAYS).
This is a one stop all in one project. Take a look at this plugin here:- http://store.homeseer.com/store/Ardu...HS3-P1843.aspx This will do all what you asking about.
PICTURE THIS!, Do you want your project to look smart and professional? Then here is the box for your Arduino:- http://www.hwhardsoft.de/english/projects/arduibox/ or High end (Industrial)? Then:- http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/plc-cpus/8850941/
This guy here :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpiHQZAF4n0 demos that PLC for you. So if the Arduino is programed with the plugin sketch then it's ready to do you justice or as you put it LOGIC, with HomeSeer being the main controller which ties other plugins into the mix.

One heavy lifting you will be left to do is intalling updfates

Note: I'm not affiliated in any way to the links I provide in the forum but just believe in logic and love to help others.

Thank you all, I have just purchased HS3 Pro software. Now looking into buying the PC. Once I've got that I will make my MCV brick redundant and send it back for a refund. Then the fun begins. Sorry in advance, I will probably be asking more silly questions... Luckily I have learnt a lot with Vera so questions shouldnt be too stupid (I hope)

Ok I've got my first 'logic' question, but dont know which part of the forum to post it to. It relates to adding up a value of a CM180 power device (via RFXcom) to get a accrued daily total and resetting it daily. Once I know where to post it to I will post in a little more detail. It is something I used PLEG for on my Vera

I agree. Even if it turns out a script is a better solution, the event clinic forum is the place to start.
