About 1/4 of them. I moved about a year ago, and am slowly re-integrating the things I had at the older house I lived in for 23 years. I have to find all my older hardware in the garage.... Then running wires is time consuming now that I am older. lol.

Just a quick note to say that if the "LED lighting strips for Christmas..." is outdoor lighting, rethink them and use wired pixels instead. The big holiday lighting display folks will tell you the strips end up breaking in climates which experience variations in temperatures. You mention freezing so I am sure you fall in this category. Feel free to ignore the warning and get strips, but the first time you are climbing a latter with a hot soldering iron and trying to repair a strip LED which is stuck to an aluminum channel heat sink, you will know why it has been made. Yes, there are videos where people say they have been working after 3 years, but there are more instances of people warning against. Just one example: the DrZzs Discord server has a channel for (mostly holiday) LEDs and this is the most repeated item there.

Some of your items could be combined/dependent on others. For instance, we all use gmail and the associated calendars and I have a family calendar we all share. On that we put Holidays and other items. I have the house go into Away mode if we have a Vacation item on the calendar.

I have started using D1 Minis running Tasmota for temperature and light level sensors. There is a sensors build which includes the BMP280 and TSL2561 sensors. I do not have a security system so I also add reed switches to some for the garage and exterior doors as well as windows. These are WiFi so no wiring needed outside the reed switches and power, which is local to the room and simple since the D1 Mini and sensors run off a phone charger so it is mostly or all low voltage depending on how and where you power the charger. I have also seen particle/air quality sensors added to the mix and may add one in my garage (aka The Woodshop).

So first of all, I like your name. My ham radio callsign is KA5SUM. I will have to check out the temp sensors you are talking about. I have run all my contacts into my security system. You can setup inputs on the Elk Alarm system to be reported but ignored as far as the alarm is concerned, so I can monitor some of the inputs by using the plugin and that way I dont have to run 2 sets of wires for 2 sets of contacts to each door/window. I used to do this when I first started HA so I could monitor the status of the doors and have a security system then it dawned on me I can use 1 contact and just monitor the alarm. I had to order the alarm system because the local alarm parts warehouse did not sell these as they are too hard for most non-technical people to setup. It took me a couple of hours on the kitchen table to get everything setup and working right before installing it. But the M1Gold and M1EZ8 series alarm panels are wonderful, very configuable, and I have not had any problems with it since I have owned it for about 10-15 years. I love this alarm system. Also, for other inputs, I have found that optocouplers are the way to go. This buffers the voltages and signals from the contacts and switches and gets away from the stray radio waves and lightening in the air. Years ago, I found a board I ordered from online that was only about $3 and had 8 optocouplers on them. They are made for robots and college projects to match 3 to 5 volt inputs. But I rewired them and they work really well. I have been thinking about using a raspbery pi or arduino to create a 48-64 input module that I can hang off the network anywhere I need to get inputs. You can order a circuit board customized to your pc layout for about $10 now-a-days. As far as LEDS go, I plan to *someday* rent a bucket truck and put them up on the eves of the house, but that is on the back burner. I plan to get some plastic tubing strips to help protect the LEDS from the weather. I live in central Oklahoma, so this year we got the -12 degrees for the first time in like 50 years. But we regularly have 90+ degree days in the summer. I like the LEDS that are encased in the rubber molding to protect from the elements. But I have lots of other tasks to finish before I tackle that one. It is good to talk with other HA enthusists.

Yes, my hope was to have one forum we can all post to in order to encourage others to work on the HA systems. There was an older thread on here from years ago called "Show us your kit". It had lots of pictures and diagrams and ideas on it. But it was obscured in the inner workings and got lost over time. Here is a link to it. It was 13 pages long last time I checked....

Here recently integrated the new wireless doorbell to the Leviton Omni Pro 2 alarm panel. 1/2 of it (doorbell piece) was connected to an Elk 930 / 960 doorbell board and debounce board. Old way for front door monitoring was a wire combo Optex PIR / Camera with the doorbell to the alarm panel.

Installed a 1-Relay WiFi switch next to the alarm panel. In the alarm panel I have a tiny micro router running OpenWRT. There are no wired connections to the hardware PIR on the doorbell. It does send ONVIF messages related to motion. I did build a trigger / event in Homeseer to trigger the relay (connected to one zone on the alarm panel).

Next steps here that I put in place was to expand the OpenWRT OS on the tiny microrouter with Python3 and PAHO-MQTT. There running an if then event in python which recieves the ONVIF motion sensor message and triggers the Tasmota 1-Wire relay WiFi switch which triggers front door motion on the alarm panel.

                Wrote about this here:

Hikvision Video Doorbell ONVIF PIR to alarm panel zone

Took the Garage door stuff from wired (still in place) to wireless here using a modified SonOff basic a couple of years back. I compare the triggers / events timing with the wired stuff using Homeseer SAPI / Alexa TTS.

Electronics here have been a hobby since the 1960s. Bult an Allied Stereo reciever back then and a code only 50 watt transmitter and used an old Hammerlaud HQ-150. Built a shack under my parents front porch back then. (66-67?)

Check out the stuff the Christmas Lighting Display folks do when you are ready to go that route. The current suggestion is to use J_Channel, drilled for pixels. Here is a video on how to modify the channel, but I suggest a Forestner Bit for nice clean holes. Lots of pictures of them in J-Channel in this displays forum thread. This is all designed for temporary or permanent placement plus ease of replacing problem lights.

Now that is clever. Some neat pics on that forum.

How would.you accomplish it, I always like to do that.

If the natural light in the room is less than 50%, lights adjust to 50%. If natural light is less than 40%, lights adjust to 60%, and so on if occupied.

A multi-sensor sensor like the HSM200, or one like Aeotec's if you need battery power, measures the light in a room. You'll have to test and do some calculations based on the size of the area you are monitoring for your events because you'll most likely be working with lumen/lux values to trigger your desired lighting. The percentage of light in that area will be what you perceive based on those values. I'd imagine optimal sensor placement is a big factor.

What are "lightbeams" in your list, PIRs?
                          Thanks!
