  • Jasco/GE Door Hinge Sensor Model ZW6301/32563-1 Setup

    I recently purchased a few of these Door Hinge Sensors in the hopes of monitoring my various doors for Open or Closed states, the problem is that the instructions that comes with the devices suck and are not always clear and concise with it functionalities. I figured since it took me a little while to nuc'ed out how to get these devices to be; included, and create the necessary devices and children and be able to set the device to the proper function to report open and close conditions.;

    a) Delete Device from HomeSeer
    1. If you already have the sensor paired to HomeSeer then unpair/delete it;
    2. Select PLUG-INS> Z-Wave> Controller Management> Under Z-Wave Interfaces > “Name: Main Z-Wave Controller> “Actions:” drop down select “Remove/Exclude a Node”
    3. Depress “START”
    4. Depress the Hinge Program button
    5. Should Delete node once done then,
    6. Depress “Close”

    b) Device Factory Reset
    1. Reset the Hinge sensor to factory default (pressing the button 10 times quickly) the LED will blink eight times
    c) Add Device to HomeSeer
    1. Select PLUG-INS> Z-Wave> Controller Management> Under Z-Wave Interfaces > “Name: Main Z-Wave Controller> “Actions:” drop down select “Add/Include a Node Non Secure”
    9. Depress “START”
    10. Message “Add Node started.. Activate the ‘Add to Network” function on the device’
    11. Depress the Hinge Program button to start the process, keep depressing Hinge Program button in a double sequence until done (this seems to keep battery device awake long enough to properly include all device aspects)
    12. Should have create device(s) (keep note of the Node number) once done then,
    13. Depress “Close” and,
    14. Go to View> Device Management
    15. And Find the Node Number in the first group Display Filters;
    16. Should have three devices displayed: Jasco Notification Sensor, Access Control Notification and Battery (see figure below)

    d) Setting Device to Correct Notification Setting

    17. On the Hinge press the Program button 5 times till it flashes (monitor the number of flashes), move the hinge lever and verify that the “Access Control Notification” device updates from Closed to Open and back, if not then need to repeat the depressing 5 times again (to cycle through the three modes) until the proper mode (1st Mode) is showing and working;
    · 1st Mode – Notification (default) after the 5 seconds it should blink 1 time
    · 2nd Mode – Basic Set after the 5 seconds it should blink 2 times
    · 3rd Mode – Basic Report after the 5 seconds it should blink 3 times

    · Factory Reset – Depress the Program Button 10 times rapidly it should blink 8 times
    Note: the device has issues with polling, but triggers seem to work 100% of the time.
