Lost contact with SEL on wired network... I see it, I ping it, but I can't open GUI

    my title outlines it...

I was trying to update a wireless router from Apple to LinkSys.
this hardware also connects me to the ethernet network which is connected to my HomeTroller SEL running Linux.
before the change, no problem seeing or accessing the H3 GUI.
    after the change....
the SEL address is observable on the eNet using a monitor program (IP Scanner).
    the SEL address is ping-able
the SEL GUI is no longer reachable ["Safari Cannot Connect to the Server 192.168....."]

figuring I screwed it up with the hardware changes...(I've got skills, but obviously NOT networking skills)

so... I decided to go back to the last known working configuration...

    guess what, still no access.

I have rebooted each and everything, but something has changed and I don't know what to try next

(fyi: using MACOS on MacBookPro, Apple TImeMachine Wireless)

thank you to anyone and everyone who may be able to help.
    Scott

Hook up a monitor and keyboard to the SEL so you can log in locally and troubleshoot

FIXED.... not exactly sure how I did it... tried a lot of different things and after a restart, everything seems to be working right...
      Onward to HS4 upgrade
