  • Shorted HS WD200

While moving a fixture, I shorted a HS WD200; I know, I know, disconnect the power first... Good news, the circuit was then de-energized; bad news, it wasn’t my breaker...my dimmer appears to be dead. I’m a little surprised the switch didn’t survive; after all, I’ve survived worse shorts. Is there any reset in these switches or was it a $50 lesson?

I let the magic blue smoke out of a WD200+ the same way. I chalked it up to a $50 lesson.

LOL, magic blue smoke, nice one. Sorry about the $50 lesson, sometimes it happens.

Unfortunately that is a trade off of this type of switch. The electronics inside the switch just aren't made to be able to handle shorts or arcs. I've smoked 2 that way. It gets to be an expensive mistake.
