The patent number of the device you posted is different than the patent number on the device cjin posted so they are probably not the same device. If you look at the description of the device that clin posted here it does say that it is a "small load resistor" http://www.pcslighting.com/pulseworx/products/tools/lds

You could use a small wattage light bulb to achieve the same effect as the resistor.

I’m not 100% certain how they work, other than potentially adding a load in series with the LED, which would sorta defeat the purpose of the LED in terms of energy efficiency.

Think they are just a large resister wired in parallel with LED to provide some minimum current through the dimmer to so it works properly. The current it draws should be very small so no meaningful impact on energy use.

I used 6 of these...

Explux 250W Equivalent LED PAR38 Flood Light, 2600 Lumens, 3000K, Full-Glass Weatherproof, Dimmable, Bright White

on a HS-WD+200 dimmer in my kitchen recently. Don't know about the HS-WD100 but it might be worth a try. And yes, these can get very bright if up all the way.

They have other wattages as well. Check out this link on Amazon.

I'm looking for some suggestions as to which LED bulbs work best with this switch. I have 6 PAR38 LEDs + a incandescent flood light installed in my Livingroom ceiling. The incandescent bullb is there to allow some dimming, but aside from the soft start and stop, the LEDs do not dim.

Dan anyone suggest a PAR 38 LED bulb that will work with this switch?
