Flicker conn and for WD-200 dimmers.

Ok, this may seem strange but bear with me. I'd really like to see a flicker setting on the WD-200 dimmers. What you would have is a parameter would put the dimmer into flicker mode which would cause the light to flicker like a candle or lantern flame. The larger the value the faster the flicker so 0 would be quite slow and 16 would be much faster. There would also have to be a flicker range parameter so say if you set that to 50 the flicker range would be the dim value minus the range. So if one set the dim value to 100 the and the range parameter was set to 25 the dimmer would flicker the light between 75 and 100 sudo randomly.

Why would you want to do this? It's a great special effect one can use for front lights on a house, on your patio or even in the bedroom.

Personally I would not mind if this was a special firmware load that leaves out other less used features like the new remote switch function.

Anyway, it's just an idea but the meantime I'm looking for some flicker modules that might work with dimmers.

i must admit I don't exactly know how the internal workings of a dimmer works, and I do know it's not a relay like on off....... but seems like a flickering relay/switch would burn out much faster then always on or off one wouldn't it?

The dimmers typically use a Triac so there is no ware and tare on them when doing flickers anymore than dimming. You can't do flickers with a switch, i.e., relay.

So you want a LIFX bulb capability from the WD-200?

Basically I want to have my carriage lamps flicker like gas lamps but when motion is sensed bring them to full bright ir dimmed to wherever level needed.

now if I had a bulb that could do that I could go with that as well.

I did fine a flicker mudule but it can’t be on a dimmer.

Not saying that the flicker wouldn't be fun in the WD-200. Just pointing out the LIFX bulbs through their "app" has a "flicker" effect you can turn on/off. But I don't think the "effects" are controllable through the UltraLighting3 plugin (not that I've found). I like the flicker it's makes for good Halloween decor currently.

I’d take that option if the UL3 plugin could control it especially if one could read the current state of the bulb and restore it later.
