Can you still see the indicator light with the sensor mounted to it?

        Ordered 2 light sensors.

Depends on how big the indicator light is. The initial design of the sensor actually had a little 'window' in it to allow that. However, the window did a terrible job of blocking ambient room light and that created a lot of false positives. So the final design had to have a reasonably opaque plastic cowling. If the indicator light is large enough, you can position the sensor to only cover part of it.

Are the sensors themselves available for purchase? (If we want to use it with a microcontroller or different interface?)

The water sensor cables are in the store now. We didn't plan on selling the light sensor cable separately.
