I'm looking to buy another ZNET so I was just looking at the November sales prices. I noticed that the sales price on a ZNET $127.46 but a full ZEE S2 with full HS3/4 software is only $99.98. That just seems weird to me since the MSRP on both is $149.95 and they use the exact same hardware with only difference being one is loaded with HS3/4 and the other with basically just open source version of ser2net with a few HS modifications.
Seems to be the obvious solution during a sale, unless HS drops the price of the ZNET to the same $99.98 price, is to purchase the ZEE S2 and then just load a copy of ZNET which basically everyone knows how to get.
However, the best solutions would be for HS to put a copy of ZNET in every ZEE S2 and update the System Finder and setup program on the ZEE S2 to allow one to select which code to boot. This way the System Finder access can be used to setup the IP addresses and device name for both systems.
The best part is that when someone upgrades from a ZEE S2 to a new computer running full HS3/4 they have a ZNET ready to go by just going back to the System Finder and changing the boot mode from HS3/4 to ZNET. I've done this manually and it seems to work just fine. One side benefit is that you don't even have to reload the Z-Wave card just connect it to the new system.
So Homeseer, please put a cop of ZNET on every ZEE S2.
