Z-Net and SmartStick

I have a ranch house with a basement. A Z-net upstairs, unfortunately it is not covering the entire house, especially the basement. I have a spare Smartstick that I can use in the basement. Without deleting or reconfiguring the network, could I use the smartstick as secondary? I'm readying several posts and I see mentioning having two Z-net, one as primary and the other as secondary. With this configuration, I do not see that option in Z-Wave.
