A different way to connect hopefully

I am using a Z-NET interface at work and have it connecting to HS so that I can monitor the temperature and turn on my office fan when the temp starts to get warm. I'm currently controlling this through a VPN. I was wondering if it was possible for the Z-NET to connect to my HS server via MyHS Remote? My VPN solution works great but it comes with it's share of problems from time to time.

Can you ping your Z-Nets ipaddress from your home network?

Yes. I have a rule in my firewall that allows Z-NET ports to pass through the VPN and it’s directed to only talk to my HS Server. The problem is if my connection drops at work, my firewall doesn’t release the connection.
