I bought a new G3 Znet unit to expand my Zwave network. I have a HomeTroller +. It seemed to install fine and I set up the Wi-Fi side as instructed. Light goes green. While the unit is connected via Ethernet I can see and access both the regular Ethernet component and the Wi-Fi component separately. However as soon as I disconnect the Ethernet I loose access to both. Makes sense for the Ethernet component but the Wi-Fi side should connect via find.HomeSeer.com. Tried restarting plugin and even restarted the whole system. No help. If Ethernet is not plugged in cannot access unit at all.
One thing that bothers me is that while the Ethernet side uses IP 192.168.1.34 which is in my router range, the Wi-Fi side keeps attaching to 192.254.10.55 which I cannot find anywhere in my router setup. I don’t see how it can connect via Wi-Fi if it’s not within my router range.
Tried using a static address within my range (192.168.1.55) and managed to brick the unit. Would not connect at all and had to get the SD card replacement. (BTW, this seems strange that there is not a factory reset button somewhere to recover from things like this). And both here on the forum and HST agree that should use DHCP. But this keeps assigning the weird IP address.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
