Can't block events from showing up on mobile apps.

I just resized that every event shows up on Mobile. This is a EXTREMELY bad idea! I have many events that you never want to be executed by a user. These are automatic events that maintain the system. Users are NEVER to execute these events.

So unlike devices I see do way to block events from showing up on Mobile.

Can an option be added to each event, in the same way that "Include as Voice Command" exists which would lock the event from bing used by a mobile app. Might I suggest the option be labeled "Block Event from Mobile Use"

There was discussion about this in the "HomeSeer Mobile Initial Release" thread.

Three suggestions:

1. In Setup->Network, I tried to create a new user that doesn't have Event Access. I used that user to login to Homeseer Mobile, but all events are still visible. I would have expected this to work, but it doesn't.

2. Another suggestion that was mentioned is that HomeSeer Mobile should only display manually runnable events ("IF This event is MANUALLY triggered" events). This would cut down on the number of events shown. However, I have a large number of these type of manually triggered events which are intended only to be called by other events and not by end users. So, this won't work all the time.

3. Let the user specify which events should show up in HomeSeer Mobile. Just like how one can specify which devices should or should not show up in HomeSeer Mobile. Option can be "Hide event from mobile views" to be consistent with the option for devices.


IMO, #1 and #3 should be supported.

Agreed on option #3 and I would like to see the events not visible by default.

I agree that option #3 is the best. The only events that should be visible are ones that you want to be visible. It's consistent with how other things are done with Alexa and Google.

However none of these changes should effect Alexa and Google integration. We have events that only they should use and it should stay that way.

OR password protect access to devices and events keeping users in the dashboard unless they know the password.

A fourth option (the fanciest one), which can be built on top of option 3, is to be able to specify which users can see those events. So, for example, I can have events in my phone that I wouldn’t other household members to see. That functionality is already available for devices.

Definitely should be implemented in next upgrade. I am surprised that has not been implemented already. I can't even give access to someone with all events available. Bad idea..

I will say for a first release it's really very good. There are some formatting issues where the last widget at the bottom is not aligned with the rest of the widgets but in general it's quite solid.

I agree that we need to see this issue fixed on the next release but I can live with it for now as I tell my wife to just not use events right now.

Yes, I have wanted this for a long time.

Just wondering of HS could tell us if this ability could or has been added to the lists of upgrades? We don't need to know when just if it has.

Has anything been done about this "issue"? I've not see any reports and my app still shows tons of events.

I really want to get rid of all these extra events on the mobile app that NEVER should be seen outside the HS3 event page.

I still like option #3 and #4 to fix the problem and Events should not be shown by default when created.

I just noticed this issue when setting up users for family members. What is the official way of reporting these issues to HomeSeer? Whenever I send an email to HS from the app, I never get any confirmation, whether these emails come through or not.

Report it to support@homeseer.com and you should get an acknowledgement email. I'm told if that acknowledgment isn't received then they did not receive your message. (I had a couple get caught in their spam filter.) In my experience when they receive an email that they deem to be a bug report, they will respond personally, in addition to the automated acknowledgement, stating it's being logged as a bug for engineering review.
