Epic FAIL (3 times) to add HT-Zee-S2 as secondary controller

I have trashed three brand new HT-Zee-S2 attempting to add as a secondary controller to my existing HT-SEL environment. I have tried restoring both the PI (using balenaEtcher) and Zee Recovery (attached head, kb, & mouse, than hit Shift); all with disasterest results. The multitude of information on this forum is confusing to me (and a fair amount is outdated). I need an image to restore my 3 HT-Zee-S2's to factory fresh; after starting anew (with a new SEL M2) I will include all 84 zwave nodes on the fresh SEL install; and then I need detailed instructions to add one of the Zee's as a secondary controller. Please help

It failed because you can't add a Zee-S2 as a secondary controller. You would need a Z-Net to add as a secondary controller. Are you perhaps confusing the Zee S2 with a Z-Net?

How is "attempting" to add these as secondaries "trashing" the Zee unit? As was pointed out this will not work but it also shouldn't affect the software on the Zee unit.
