Is it possible to Dynamically compare times? What I mean is can I have 1 device that has a "value", then use that to compare to a timer or a time.
For instance: Virtual Device 1 is set to 00:10:00 (ten min). I want to use this to either:
Check when a timer reaches this value, or
When a device has has been a value for this time (it, light has been on for exactly "the amount of time in Virtual Device 1 above").
I'm thinking no, but I thought I would check.
Reason for this:
I have automated lights in parts of my house. During certain parts of the day, I want the timeouts to be longer than other parts of the day. Yes, I could create multiple events and base it the time of day, but I think that might get messy and it makes changing those values a bit cumbersome. So for instance, during the evening, having the Kitchen lights stay on longer is nice, but in the middle of the night, I don't need them to stay on for 10 minutes after no motion. Chances are that at 2AM, no one is staying in the kitchen for any length of time, they just passed through the room.
It would also allow me to have a central Virutal Device that would hold my common timeout and I would only need a set of events to change that one, and not have to change all the events for every place I have automatic lights.
*This is just me brainstorming. Perhaps it's "too complex" and I need to K.I.S.S.
