This will cover navigating the Event Management Page.
To Navigate to the Event Management Page, select Events under the View dropdown at the top of the HomeSeer web interface.
When you first open the Event Management page, you will see three Display Filter Dropdowns and a Show All button.
These can be used to narrow the number of Events that are displayed. Here only one Group is selected.
After you apply a filter by clicking the "x", the page is refreshed, only showing the group(s) on which you have filtered. Just like the Device Management page, you will see that the Events are filtered and how many are shown. Applying any of the three filters works the same way, make your selections, then close the dropdown either by clicking on the x or outside the dropdown. Clicking on "Check All" will stop the filtering on groups, but will not affect other filters that are applied. You can combine filtering by Group, Type and Device as desired.
The triangle in the circle allows you to expand the group, showing all of the Events in the Group
If you want to rename a group, you can click on the group name while it is expanded to get a pop up editor.
You can rename any group, but names may not be duplicated. After renaming a group it will remain where it was until the page is refreshed. When refreshed, the groups will again be sorted alphabetically.
The second dropdown allows you to filter on "Event Types".
Event Types is another tool for organizing Events. This is only for the purpose of filtering Events. You can make up names as you go and assign the Types to Events. There is no tool for bulk editing, so they must be added one by one, preferably as you build Events. This is very useful for filtering Events and identifying them by Type. All currently used Event Types will be available in the dropdown as well as a selection allowing creating of a new Type.
The third dropdown allows you to filter on Device(s). You can pick one or many to identify Events by the Devices involved.
While these posts are usually limited to native HS3 functions, if you want to further refine your filtering of Events, there is at the time of this posting, one 3rd party enhancement. Jon00's Event Viewer & Documenter script. It will allow you to find events using Counters, Timers and Scripts. It also will allow you to perform a text search and/or filter on "Broken" Events. It will also output an Event listing in CSV or plain text and can be configured to generate these reports from an Event.
Here the Event list is filtered on the single Device Occupancy Controls Occupancy Mode. There are 71 Events using that device. This is useful in many ways. It only works on Devices, not Timers, Counters, scripts, etc.
The Show All button will clear all filters and display all Events.
To create a fresh Group, click on the button to create a new Group
The Group will be named New Group by default, but you will be presented with a Dialog box to enter a new name.
After naming the Group you will see a single Event named New Event.
Group names exist because they contain Events. If the last Event in a group is deleted, the group is deleted as well. All Events must be in groups, so if you delete a Group, all the Events in the group will also be deleted.
