    Intruder event using two hinge and/or Strip door sensors

    I finally got around to installing either Jasco ZW6301 door hinge Sensor or Sensative door strips on all of my external doors which works great when a door is either opened or closed.

    So I thought how would I create an event that would trigger an alert if someone opened and/or closed a external door and then transverse through the room to the other door and opened and/or closed that 2nd door this action would be indicative of someone illegally entering from a locked outside door and then moving through a room to open the other door which would then trigger an alert. Normally I would create a simple AND event if door one is open and door two is open then do something but may not always be the state someone could open then close door one and then open and close door two which my simple AND event would not trigger anyone have any suggestions or steer to another solution? thanxs in advance Mike

    Maybe a virtual device and a timer when a door is open. If second door (virtual device) is opened within 2 minutes (or a reasonable time), then trigger.

      Dave, thanxs for the comeback and suggestion(s). Here's what I finally ended up with;
      • 2 Virtual devices for each door to record when each is opened and,
      • 4 Events; two which set the specific virtual device to OPEN condition, the third to trigger when both virtual devices are indicating OPEN and the last to reset the inner door after 2 mins if it is triggered from gaining normal access to the room from inside the house.

        Do you have EasyTrigger?

        If so I would have thought you could do this with a very simple event.

        Trigger would be a standard HS3 'This device has a value that has just changed' for the 2nd door.
        Condition would be the EasyTrigger 'This device's value has changed in the last' for the 1st door and use a few minutes.

        Maybe I am missing the obvious though.

          Steve many thanxs for comeback. The reason I did not use a timed event is that we're assuming that someone is moving through the room within a timed window and that both doors would be in a Opened condition when one or both could be either opened and closed which then makes for a number of scenario that I would have to address, I thought by using the virtual devices, I don't care if you closed the door only that you open them (and I captured that activity) and I don't care how long you linger within the room as long as HS knows that you've passed through the outer and inner doors and are now the intruder is within the house.

          I am using EasyTrigger for other events and will be look at it to see if I can adapted it to encompass my first event version.. I did start this thread as a exploratory request hoping that others have developed solution(s) to address similar situations and am always eager to learn new techniques and tools from others. Mike
