Events: groups vs. types

I've always organized my events in to Groups but I'm starting to all a lot more and I was wondering about the Type option. Can someone explain what Type is for / the usage difference between Groups and Types?

Group types is a filtering option only. It allows you to filter events of a specific type. For instance you could have a group called "Lighting Controls" and within that group you could have "Luminance", "Time" and "Motion". Then you can use the dropdown filters at the top of the event list to show all events of a type or several types, just as you can chose to filter on a group or several groups and/or a device or several devices. The filters work similarly to the "Room", "Floor" and "Device Type" filters on the Device Manager page.
