Anyone using HomeSeer along side with Home Assistant?

I got really board the other day and decided to install HASSIO. After playing around with it for 2 days I can tell you that it isn't easy. Being in the IT field, I can understand the basic of the code logics and figure things out by youtube and reading. I got a few fun things figured out eventually but this is not for the faint of heart.

Works with Ecobee, it's weather, all sensors are picked up rather quickly which is very nice.

A fun one for me is the ability to cast my BI streams to all of my Google Smart display by using MQTT sent from HomeSeer motion sensors and triggering Home Assistant to send the video feed.

Adding the same camera stream to the system was very easy. I wish it was that simple for HomeSeer I know I know pay for the damn plugin but when I tried it didn't work as I'd like.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone do the same thing? What other fun things can you do between the two systems?

BTW: There is no intent of bashing HS here, I don't think HA can ever replace HS for me. Just too much work and lots of room for error.

U use it, but just to send command and value via mqtt.

For now i just use the plex component to control plex. Because the control part to control plex on openhab stopped working

Seems like I'm on the right path. MQTT definitely open lots of doors for HA

you can chek on the api side too. But the node-red nodes package for both openhab and home assistant are really well made ( and they use http and websocket).... so you can pas info form and to them via mqtt

originally I started with HASSIO node red then my hair started to fall out so I switched to MQTT where I was familiar with. node red is on my top to learn IOT list.

I used to run HA and it was a nice system until the updates killed my system... that is feeling very familiar to me currently even with HS3... I've often thought of integrating the two but I can't think of anything specific in HA that I don't have or can't do with HS3.

              They now support smarthing.

So a plugin to control a read values from home assistant would be nice

That's really exciting... HA has so much potential, if someone could dumb down the process, I can really see this thing kick off. Just a few days with it and I see endless possiblities.

The ability to tie directly into Smartthing is huge. If we can get something like that here it would be pretty badass

Doing a project for a customer with HA. It is my first HA project, but I really like the dashboard. Not really userfriendly to setup events though.

I was going to but HA doesn’t work well in a docker container and I didn’t have a spare raspberry pi

I run it in a python virtual environment without any problems. Don't see a problem with running it in docker ?

It’s a known issue accessing network resources. How do you run it in a virtual python environment?

I'm running it in virtual bo, recently added Octoprint to another Virtualbox raspbian and loving it. All running on the same machine as HS3
