Do Device names need to be unique?

I have three different devices named "Lamp". They are in different Rooms, so they show up as Bedroom Lamp, Gameroom Lamp, and Office Lamp. Does anyone know if this can cause problems? One reason I ask is late afternoon every day when these different devices start firing is when my X10 plugin disconnects. I have yet to get the X10 plugin to run for more than 24 hours.

I had a problem with this in HSTouch.

I had 2 devices called "Thermostat" and, like you, they were in different rooms. However, HSTouch didn't see this distinction and for things to work, I had to give them unique names.

I'm not using X10, but I have not had any issues with my ZWave device many of which have the same name.

All devices have an underlying unique Reference ID (dvRef) which is how HS tells them apart. You can see this reference by going into the device and click on the Advanced tab.
