no i had to update it to the latest from the gui, after entering the licencing info.
I also had to create a homeseer user in the system, and create a systemd file. And of course install mono. It is running on a laptop at my mother's place.

So that's not the distribution per standard that's ONLY a previous update release to apply to the standard pi image then... is that correct? HS is running a promo of FREE HS-Pi and people are looking for the download and I wouldn't want them pulling your link thinking it was a "full install".
So if I understand correctly. I use a full distro of Debian under esxi like any other and then extract and setup HomeSeer using your link. Register it and then update to the latest release of homeseer?
Yes it will, 99% sure. I did ,myself , got the licence with the promo (but the $50 one) . If you receive your licence code by email i see no reason it wont work. The setup is almost the same as installing normal hs3 version. But, you have to create a homeseer user in linux before starting hs3 pi

Okay cool.
i don’t have a raspberry pi. I’d like to do this under a VM.
When I get a chance I will play around with this.
i wish they had better signee support. I have a crap load of iris v2 motion sensors.

I'm thinking you meant Zigbee support? Well... You have a Hubitat hub that supports Zigbee and Iris sensors... and I have the HS3 Hubitat plugin that integrates Hubitat into HS... so best of both worlds right?

For the HS3 Pi Free version you can download the full RPI image or a TAR file which is just HS3. You can run the tar file on your existing RPI or any other Linux. The instructions and download links are in this guide:
