  • Try to build a discord bot for homeseer NodeJs

    Hi all,

This week i'm gonna try to create a discord bot for homeseer.
I see discord has many possibility's to do this in java / NodeJS
But the problem is i don't have any knowledge of java, so any help is apriciated

Discord is just very good and stable and also secure, so the 2 way communication with homeseer should be fine.
    https://discord.js.org/#/docs/main/stable/topics/web

I've seen so many bots what can do really a lot of things.

I already have a bot up and running only need to do the coding to read homeseer devices, thats the hard part.

If someone is interested let me know.
    Regards

    Here an update:

I got it going and it connects to homeseer to trigger on live status change from devices.
Aswell u can use it as 2 way communication to ask questions and it reply to the status or whatever u want.
And it can send files on request and its almost instant.

I wil try to simplify the code so its easy to configure, i wil post it here once it's finished for whoever is interested.

    regards

Could you please explain in a little more detail about what this does?

        Hi S-F,

        You probably know discord ?
As i am really active in the gaming community i would like to bring my home automation into discord.
        check it out on https://discordapp.com/

U can make your own channel add bots and fully automate it.
Its just a mixture of pushbullet / pushover / whatsapp

So i build a bot in Nodejs to import to discord.
what it can do is u can have it send all the live status changes of homeseer in a channel you created in discord automatically if u want (for debugging).

        For example:
U can type a message or voice command (did i forget to turn off my lights?) it wil reply with the status of the lights that are on.
Where is my car (shows the location of my car )(phl2)
Can you enable my event (turns on your specific event)
U can also request files of you server (max 10mb) a time.
And if you don't want to interact with it and only receive status changes of all selected devices of homeseer, it can send them all the time to a specific channel u created for debugging(u can mute channels to not receive push messages).

        Everything is fully costomizable,
So this bot is not something you can setup in a menu, it's just plain javascript.
It uses the json returns from homeseer by http and ascii.

There are a ton of possibility's with that bot, but you need to do a lot of coding to get it working.
What i'm doing now is make the code as easy as possible to understand and then i wil upload a video how to use it and post the code on this forum.
But it wil take some time as i am really busy,

Ah. OK. I don't play video games so that's why this went right past me. Sounds like an interesting project though.
