    System.OutOfMemoryException thrown - Solved!

    Hi,

I'm getting rather frequent error reports in the log, in response to attempts to do things, such as running a script, (but not only that).

I'm running a dedicated windows 7 HS3 machine with 4G of Ram. Process explorer says I've got 2.7G free while this is happening.

Is this a windows problem (not giving HS3 memory) or an HS3 problem?

I'm running HS3 Pro 3.0.0.143 and recently installed Zwave Beta 3.0.0.187 so that I can run my new HSM200. Restartding HS3 helps for a short time. Restarting the PC, doesn't help beyond what a restart of HS3 does.

Any thoughts of what to look into next? I could go back to an earlier rev of the Zwave plugin, but I'm also interested in other ways to investigate this.
    Doug

Have a look at the systems event viewer for any hints. Also have a look at the task manager to see if you can see what app is using a lot of memory.

Nothing helpful showing in event viewer, either in system or application logs.

The largest memory hog in task manager is svchost (which runs windows services). That was up at 500M. I don't have much in the way of extra services running. I've disabled Dropbox, which is a recent addition to this machine. Not because it appeared to be using much memory, but simply because it is recent.

Both task manager and process explorer show quite a lot of spare physical memory.

        Doug,

I did also get out of memory faults, especially for scripts when I started using the beta. For me it was solved by updating the dll set for each remote speaker and/or remote plugin running. They need to have the same DLL set as Hs3 itself.

This beta is particalary sensitive to that and runs in memory errors otherwise.

Any chance you have remote plugins or speakers?

          Wim,

That's very interesting. Thanks for the pointer. I do connect to a speaker client on our media PC (it's the default speaker). I'll try upgrading that.

          regards

I have seen this also but it seemed to be tied to any script using hs.GetURL (see bug number 2322 http://bugzilla.homeseer.com/bugzill...ug.cgi?id=2322)

I was getting that error a lot after upgrading to .147 and found it related to permissions issues caused by the install.

Well, updating the remote speaker client seems to have done the trick!

No errors for that last couple of days. (They would have shown by now)

                Thanks for the input.

                regards
