Mobile access via Homeseer app and https with non-standard port and self-signed cert

I'm interested in setting up HS4 and using the homeseer mobile app, and was pleased to see that I could add a direct connection with an https option.

I can't seem to find any information on using this setup:

    1. unique port - although there's a port option in the app so I think I'm covered, as long as https doesn't force me to use 443
    2. I have a static IP so I'm good as far as any MyHS or dynamic dns services.
    3. self signed certificate - this is easy on apache/linux but I'm using HS4 on a Windows box.

    Possible?

Also I realize this might be two different topics:

    1) configuring HS4's https server with a self signed cert (there's talk about "Let's Encrypt" is that what I need?)
    2) allowing the mobile app to use https over a unique port and accepting the self signed cert

Another option to consider is using a VPN client.

The mobile app connects to Homeseer's cloud service and it, in turn, is communicating with your home system. That was how it worked in HS3 and I don't believe it has changed in HS4. So to change the port for the mobile app would require HST to accept connections on a different port, hence it isn't likely to be under our control. Same for the connection used between our home HS systems and the HS cloud service.

I was planning on using a direct connection (i.e. my public IP + port + user/pass) vs. the MyHS cloud service. The app appears to allow that to happen.

My questions are for direct, non myhs connections.
