Is there a new replace device function in HS4?

In HS3 I used "http://192......../replace" to replace old with new devices. It worked marginally well. I tried the same in HS4. It brings up the appropriate screen, but both the device to be replaced and the replacement device get deleted. This is definitely not useful. Is there another way to replace devices in HS4?

Yes. Have you used it? When I did use it, it didn't work properly, as I wrote above.

I have and did not experience any issue that I remember. However, last time I used the "Replace Node" function under "ZWaveWho."

        http://192.XXX.XX.XX/ZWaveWho

Then click on the Full Name of the Node you wish to replace.

        Go to the Z-Wave Tab

Then click on the "Replace Node" button.

        Give that one a try.

Thanks! That is definitely something that I would not have done. I will give it a try next time that I need to replace a node.

You can get to that same location by clicking the device name in Devices and then going to the Z-Wave tab.

In HS4 4.2.6.0, neither the "Replace Node" or "Remove Bad Node" work properly. Both fail with "Note: The device must be woken up manually to use the functions below." I have not yet figured out how to wake up a node that is dead. I probably could make a fortune if I could wake the dead.

That's not the usual outcome in the movies.

I used the replace node function last week on Linux version of 4.2.6 and it worked perfectly. Removed old switch, installed new one, then went to the old device zwave tab and selected replace node, triggered the switch and it was detected and replaced.

I have HS4 4.2.6.0 running on Windows 10 and NONE of the above described to replace a node seems to exist... what gives?

Does this function exist in the latest HS4 and if so how does one access it? I'm trying to determine which nodes are dead with their associated devices and delete them any suggestions how to best do this?

Go onto the zwave tab of the device, click test connectivity, after it says could not connect node you can remove it. If you are replacing like for like, include the new node, make a note of the node number. Go onto the old device, zwave tab, and change the node number to the number of the device you just included. Now all you need to do is edit the zwave file and delete the now obsolete node and reimport the edited zwave backup. A bit of a faff but it works well. All your events voice commands etc will still work.
If the node to be replaced is still powered on, you will have to power it off so that the connectivity test says cannot reach node, otherwise it wont let you delete the bad node

mikee123, many thanxs for the comeback, in some ways IMHO the z-wave tools in HS3 were more intuitive, since we normally don't mess around with z-wave stuff unless something is broken, I find myself wandering amongst the various functions trying to figure it that there's an elephant in the room! I take it the "Z-Wavewho" doesn't exist for HS4?

I dont think there is anything like that. But the forum will provide a lot of information. I struggeld a lot first of all too, but with help of the forum (and a lot of trial and error) I started to pick up on what the functions do. I still do not understand a lot of whats possible though..
