    HS4 strange issue

    When installing HS4 fresh, the start menu Program group still says HS3???

    I was under the impression that a distinct advantage to HomeSeer was offline, and no cloud dependency, yet today as my Internet connection is down, I'm noticing loading pages is extremely slow because it's trying to load something from kit.fontawesome.com ... That's less than awesome, any way to disable that?

    I don't want any CDN/cloud "dependency" this "cloud all the things" mentality has to stop...

    If you turn off remote access (MyHS) and you are not using some plug-ins like Tuya..., What else could that be? Have you been hacked?

      fontawesome.com is not a hack. Its a site which allows inline graphics for web sites. That was used during early HS4 builds but should have been removed. What version of HS4 are you running and what HS4 pages do you see this?

        Search of the current Linux archive (linux_4_2_0_0.tar.gz) yields a few hits for fontawesome.com
        Code:
        find . -type f -exec grep -n "\.fontawesome\.com" {} /dev/null \;
        ./html/event.html:30: <script src="https://kit.fontawesome.com/46eeb3991e.js" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
        ./html/recordings_test.html:13: <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://use.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.8.1/css/all.css">
        ./html/jui.html:15: <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://use.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.8.1/css/all.css">
        ./html/index.html:13:<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://use.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.8.1/css/all.css">
        ./html/temp.html:14:<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://use.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.8.1/css/all.css">

          I saw it when loading the devices page.

          I always disable MyHS, Energy logging
          Allow browser imaging changing is unchecked.

          This install is v4.1.18.0

          Curiously, when I load the browser network inspector (F12) it is no longer showing any requests for that domain.

            I would say HST have forgotten to update those pages?

            events.html (V4.2.0.0) on Windows show it locally sourced i.e.

            Code:
            <link rel="stylesheet" href="/bootstrap/fontawesome/css/all.min.css" >
            Perhaps Rich rjh can comment?

              I suppose it's possible that "waiting for kit.fontawesome.com" message in the lower left of Firefox was from a different tab?? Even though I was looking at the HomeSeer device tab at the time? Not sure, but I can't seem to "make" it do it anymore, and my ISP is still down while they fix their cut fiber problem.

              Also I suppose it could be browser cache of some other HomeSeer install I was working on?? I've since cleared all my cache.

              EDIT: I found it, as soon as I try to edit an event it happens.... /events.html?ref=...

                Good find, that reference to the fontawesome site is not suppose to be there. There is a common include file that references all the required files locally. The events page is a special page that includes its own references (due to the fact that the events have to reference HS3 controls for plugins). It looks like I forgot to update that page. I put in an issue to get this fixed in the next update.

                  In the file event.html, you can safely just delete this line:

                  Code:
                  <script src="https://kit.fontawesome.com/46eeb3991e.js" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
