Replace Bad Node

I have a node that lost it's association with my z-wave controller. Hence, from HS' point of view this is a none responding node. I can remove it with "Remove Bad Node" but it's my understanding this will not only remove it from the z-wave stick but also remove the HS devices and break all the events that use that node. Is there a way to avoid "replace" a bad/non-communicating node?

In HS3: Device/ ZWave Tab there is a "Replace Bad Node" button that will do what you want. Does HS4 not have this?

It does not. It had "Replace Node" (current node must still be reachable) and "Remove Bad Node" (node must not be available and then the node and device will be deleted). There isn't an option to replace a bad node, at least not as far as I can see.

This is incorrect. The flyover text for Replace Node needs the node to NOT be reachable in order to work. I've recently used this button to replace a few bad GE light switches.

The Replace Node feature has a serious limitation. It is designed only to replace a device with the exact same model device. The process does not update any attributes of the device or update/change/add any child devices. If you want to replace an older device with a newer device, you’re out of luck. How often does a device actually break? Usually I just want to update a device and it’s not useful for that.

How often does a device actually break?

I'm only one data point, but I've had a handful of HS-WS100 and HS-WD100 devices fail over the past 6 years. The LED starts blinking every 1-2 seconds, the relay is inoperable locally, and the radio becomes unreachable. One recently died and thankfully I have a few spares as it appears HomeSeer no longer carries them, so eBay would have been my next option. I used the replace node option in HS4 to replace it without the need to go and edit all the events and other areas like EasyTrigger groups the device was part of.
