There is pain involved in moving from HS3 to HS4. However, I'm not sure what "bad header" means in this context, and in truth, it would be had to advise based upon the provided information. What effect does this have on use and operation? What is affected? Where does this message come from? Log? Startup log? Etc.? What has worked and what has failed?

    Hi Paul,

The procedures are described here: https://docs.homeseer.com/products/s...ler-s6-upgrade (or start here if you're not using Windows or HomeTroller: https://docs.homeseer.com/products/s...ading-from-hs3).

Before you do so, make sure you have a good backup of the entire HS3 folder.

    Migrate HS3 to HS4 help

    Good Morning,
While trying to get (force) HS3 devices, events, etc. into HS4 I finally broke HS4. Before i begin again, is there a method you recommend to migrate HS3 to HS4 ?
I have tried the backup-restore option and continually get a "bad header" error upon restore into HS4. My admittedly faulty memory recalls several in depth discussions, when HS4 was new, regarding upgrade procedures. My searches for migrate and/or installing HS4 have not been helpful.
Any advice on how to painlessly begin again?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul
