    Yep, that's the smart thing to do. Why people rely on the HS4 built-in backup is beyond me. There are numerous free backup solutions for Windows that can take instant snapshots of the entire disk partition, or directories. Plus they can be scheduled for daily backups so one can revert to any point in time (within their storage limits).

    I use the free version of Paragon Backup & Restore for years now with no issues. Has saved my bacon many times.

      I concur, we shouldn’t rely entirely on this backup, but it is less stressful to do upgrades if it’s working.

      I perform both image and shadow copy backups on the system running HS4. I‘d rather avoid rolling back the entire system if I can restore the application directly only.

      If the system is running Windows, is in a domain, and the secure channel password changes between backups; it creates extra steps to roll back.

        Even if it's in a domain just simply do a backup of the HS4 directory and sub-directories. Takes seconds. HS4 doesn't mess with the registry in between upgrades, everything is self-contained in its own folder.
