    Can't delete timer

Did says it's in use by an event but it isn't that I can find. Show me the event or allow delete. I've deleted the device ok. It's the timer itself I cannot delete.

I seem to have a ghost event that runs at 6am daily that performs an action-runs an event- and resets this timer. It's there a way to hide events like there is to hide devices? If so how to, and undo.
    Most odd.
    Thanks Joe

    Greetings Joe,

More information will be needed to proceed.
    • Does the Event show in the Events page at all?
    • Please include the entries of the log including a few minutes before and after the event fired.
    • Which version on HS?
    • Which version of the Plug-in?
    • A screenshot of the General page under the Setup tab.
    • Is anything at all showing under the Tools - Timers/Counters page?
    • Have you shutdown and restarted HomeSeer?
    • When posting information, please ensure that no personal information is included.

    Thanks!

Also, check out the app called "Event Viewer & Documenter for HS4" that is hosted on Jon's website.

+1 on Jon’s utility. It can find every Event using any timer.

          Thanks for the reply Roger.
it will be a while before I can get the log and screen shots. But to answer what I can...

Does the Event show in the Events page at all? The called event does show, the action is just to make some entries in the log. The event action is called by other events as well.

Please include the entries of the log including a few minutes before and after the event fired. Later...

Which version on HS? version 4.2.17.0

Which version of the Plug-in? What plug in is relevant? This is timer, event, and log.

A screenshot of the General page under the Setup tab. What do you need? I'm not good at editing/redacting stuff on screen shots. License # location etc. I'm licensed for standard, not running beta.

Is anything at all showing under the Tools - Timers/Counters page? Yes the timer is there.

Have you shutdown and restarted HomeSeer? No. Mostly because there is no good way to do that without crashing it. I run other things on the PC and shutdown this the PC. A serious glad in hs4 I wish they fix, so it's complicated to do so.

When posting information, please ensure that no personal information is included. Ok, sure.
          Thanks Joe

            Here are partial logs...

The ghost event is at 6:00:01. I did have another event running at 6, but changed it to 5:59:40 to separate it from the ghost event and make sure this and the ghost occur at different times. Then 6:09 and after is normal stuff.

Back to the original post. What do you mean by “ghost Event”? It appears you found the Event that involves the Timer. You initially posted “Can't delete timer”. Then you asked about hiding Events. If you want to delete the timer, you must delete the Event or delete the references to the Timer in the Event. An Event can be disabled, but not hidden. Even if an Event is disabled, you still cannot delete a Timer used in the Event. The rest of the posts seem to be going off in a new direction.

What exactly do you want to do?

All is OK now, but probably a HS4 version/update problem....

I'm sorry if it is confusing...but I could not find an event with HourTimer timer. I did install the Jon utility and it is great. It found lots of things EXCEPT it never found an event with HourTimer. I searched as text, and also HourTimer WAS present in the pulldown list of defined timers to search - but it returned 0 of 315 events - so Jon's utility still found NO event with that timer.

I was having HSBuddy problems (had to disable the plugin) and wanted to get to 18.2 or 3 as well. And this issue wasn't a show-stopper, mostly clean up.

This morning I updated to 18.3 and reloaded everything, including HSBuddy. SO FAR, it looks like no MAJOR issues. I was NOW able to delete the HourTimer!

I'm getting a few errors - if they don't stop I'll make them in another post...
