I have reply from KinCony - KC868-COLB is different to other controllers because the control logic is internal for the controller, unlike other controllers with external control only. There's still some binary interface to read/set inputs/outputs, but I need to make sense of it (translation from Chinese...).

What exactly do you want to do with KC868-COLB via HS?

Because the COLB has its own control logic, which IMHO is less suitable for the external control system like HS.

I'm wanting to pass the status and info from the Analog, Digital, and Temp inputs. The goal is to hopefully use the COLB in conjunction with possibly the KC868-AI For additional Digital Inputs to handle all of the dry contacts, Smoke/CO, etc so i can migrate the sensors i have around the house that is currently in my alarm panel.

I'm not sure why the COLB has internal logic like that since it just gives status of the devices. Perhaps its acting as a control for other devices through its serial ports? there arent any relays or outputs besides the serial, wifi, eth, as rs485 on it like some of the other devices have.

I guess what im saying is i just want the input status passed on into HS for each of the 16 x AI, 16 x DI, and 5 x DS18B20 connectors with the ability to add multiple COLB's to HS so i can create HS events based on the status and possibly use your BLSecurity with them as well.

    I hope that clarifies it.

After further looking it looks like the COLB is a brain for other products he has. For what i'm looking to do, as i mentioned previously, is to just get the status of the inputs and let HS handle the logic. I just want the COLB for it's combo of the Analog and Digital Inputs. If i add any of the other products at some point down the line then i would let HS Events handle the logic as opposed to the COLB

KC868-COLB is PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER - so it's designed for stand-alone operation (even without internet). But as I said, they do have some binary access protocol to read the inputs. I need to research more.

Will do. Thanks. Let me know when and if you need me to test anything.

Were you able to find anything? Do you need me to reach out to kincony and ask him for something specific to help?

Hi, I tried to get the info from Kincony, but the guy is not very helpful and even a bit rude:

sorry, command line on the forum, no other document, i think you have a product for testing is better.
because the debug tool can see th protocol when press a button will send command.monitor send and feedback message
Sorry, no free sample. you can order from our online store.
There's no document for the binary protocol, he suggested to use some debug tool to analyse the comms, but for that I need the COLB controller to communicate. And he doesn't want to provide a sample (unlike other companies) - even if I promote their products basically for free.

Do you know what debug tool? i can run it for you or give you remote access if that helps. I did a wireshark capture while activating one of the digital sensors but got nothing but gibberish and nothing useful. You are welcome to it though.

                    Yeah, https://www.kincony.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1739

From his email: "you can use our debug tool page. that will easy to understand".

BTW, his email is hificat@163.com and the forum https://www.kincony.com/forum/ - but I couldn't find anything useful there.

If (when) you can make the debug tool work - we can try remote access.

I usually use https://remotedesktop.google.com/ it's easy but it requires your presence. Other options are TeamViewer, etc...

                            [EDIT]

Did you manage to enable DEBUG mode and see the comms with the device?

Yes I got into the debug mode and saw the output in binary. What time do you want to connect? I'm in the east coast in the US time zone wise. I see you are in Australia?
