    Big5 device stats stop updating after a few days

    I have a Big5 HTTP profile pulling PurpleAir info from a local PurpleAir device (details here). I've got an event that runs every 5 minutes to poll the PurpleAir device. The stats on the device page show up and all works as expected. After a few days the page devices page stops updating with new information. I've tried stopping and starting the Big5 Plugin and that does not help. Restarting Homeseer does fix it for a few days and then it is back to not updating.

    I've got a Homeseer setup going in two locations and only one of my locations has this issue. The biggest difference between the two setups is the Hometroller version (Pro vs Plus) and Homeseer version (Pro vs Standard). Both are running Homeseer 2.4.5.0 (I am currently keeping up with the latest betas). The Pro setup doesn't have the problem.

    Any help appreciated!

    This is hard to replicate problem and it's a wild guess that it is caused by Big5. Could be many things. If it takes few days for the problem to emerge than it looks like that it is related to certain resources that deplete with time. So called "memory leak" is the usual suspect but it could be many other things. It could be at OS level, at HS4 level, at Big5 level or a hardware issue, hard to say which one. The fact that it doesn't disappear after Big5 restart actually means that it is less likely to be a Big5 problem. When you ask your home automation system to do more and more and more you have to upgrade the hardware at some point too. Some people are running it on Raspberry Pi for few devices and events while others have hundreds devices and events and run it on powerful Intel Machines with large memory.

      Thanks for the response, risquare!

      I get what you are saying about it potentially being unrelated to Big5, but still I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Currently it has 4 other plugins, one of which polls data; none of the other plugins are experiencing any issues. Again, not conclusive, but by no means does it rule out Big5.

      The unit that is having the issue is a Hometroller Plus. It has 4GB of memory in it and it is running with 1.9GB free consistently (no slow loss of memory over time). When I am having the issue I have checked the process list to ensure that when I stop the Big5 plugin and restart it that the process is indeed going away and restarting -- it is. Moreover I wasn't accurate about restarting Homeseer fixing the problem; I have to reboot the unit to fix the problem, just restarting Homeseer doesn't do it.

      I'd be happy to run through some additional troubleshooting steps if anyone has any...

        Some additional info from the logs. Before I rebooted the Hometroller unit, you can see the event triggered every five minutes in the log:

        10/11/2021 4:06:27 PM HomeSeer Event Event Trigger "Big5 Cron PurpleAir"

        Then there is nothing after that from Big5. When it is working after a reboot it looks like this:

        10/11/2021 4:22:19 PM HomeSeer Event Event Trigger "Big5 Cron PurpleAir"
        10/11/2021 4:22:19 PM Big5HS4 Debug [Big5HS4 Plugin] [HttpConnection] [Raw message in]: {"SensorId":"","DateTime":"2021/10/11T23:22:19z","Geo":"PurpleAir","Mem":19544,"memfrag":19,"me mfb":15888,"memcs":760,"Id ":0,"lat":0,"lon":0,"Adc":0.00,"loggingrate":15,"place":"out side","ve rsion":"6.01","uptime":1728023,"rssi":-73,"period":120,"httpsuccess":86838,"httpsends":86862,"hard w areversion":"2.0","hardwarediscovered":"2.0+BME280+PMSX003-B+PMSX003-A","current_temp_f":62,"current_humidity":22,"current_dew poi nt_f":23,"pressure":965.28,"p25aqic_b":"rgb(0,228,0)","pm2.5 _aqi_b":0,"pm1_0_cf_1_b":0.00,"p_0_3_um_b":0.09,"pm2_5_cf_1_ b":0.00,"p_0_5_um_b":0.09,"pm10_0_cf_1_b":0.00,"p_1_0_um_ b": 0.00,"pm1_0_atm_b":0.00,"p_2_5_um_b":0.00,"pm2_5_atm_b":0.00 ,"p_5_0_um_b":0.00,"pm10_0_atm_b":0.00,"p_10_0_um_b":0.00 ,"p 25aqic":"rgb(0,228,0)","pm2.5_aqi":0,"pm1_0_cf_1":0.00,"p_0_ 3_um":0.00,"pm2_5_cf_1":0.00,"p_0_5_um":0.00,"pm10_0_cf_1":0 .00,"p_1_0_um":0.00,"pm1_0_atm":0.00,"p_2_5_um":0.00,"pm2_5_ atm":0.00,"p_5_0_um":0.00,"pm10_0_atm":0.00,"p_10_0_um":0.0 0 ,"pa_latency":363,"response":201,"response_date":16339944 76, "latency":266,"key1_response":200,"key1_response_date":1 6339 94471,"key1_count":15573,"ts_latency":584,"key2_response":20 0,"key2_response_date":1633994472,"key2_count":15573,"ts_s _l atency":587,"key1_response_b":200,"key1_response_date_b":163 3994474,"key1_count_b":15576,"ts_latency_b":535,"key2_respon se_b":200,"key2_response_date_b":1633994475,"key2_count_b":1 5576,"ts_s_latency_b":559,"wlstate":"Connected","status_0":2 ,"status_1":2,"status_2":2,"status_3":2,"status_4":2,"sta tus _5":2,"status_6":2,"status_7":0,"status_8":2,"status_9":2, "s sid":"SSID"}

        So when it isn't working it doesn't appear to be polling the device. Still don't know why, but at least a little more info...

          I still have the same problem - devices stop to update information and when I go to the Big5HS4 profiles, all of them are gone. Restarting the system helps, but for couple of days and then the story starts again.
          It goes like that for couple of months now...

          I don't buy explanation that it is not related to Big5HS4 (as I was told some time ago) - no other plugin has such issues, and I've read other users reporting similar difficulties.
          I can help to track the issue (just tell me how), because it is really annoying for a one of most expensive plugins in the HS shop.

            I'm rebooting the HS4 server daily to combat this issue. It is definitely annoying. I am also willing to help track it down if told what to do...
